Our July trial on a hot Wisconsin weekend was filled with memories and milestones. Congratulations to Nicki Perrault and her amazing Border Collie team mate Sierra on surpassing the 5,000 Lifetime Points mark on Saturday Morning. Most of those points have been earned here at Dogwood Acres while rising through the ranks from a very fresh and new Novice team to having earned two NATCH awards and two Versatility NATCH awards … not to mention the added challenge of re-tooling their teamwork to deal with Sierra’s hearing impairment, discovered late last summer. The two of them now appear to be running more smoothly and more connected these days than they ever did before! We are so proud of Nicki for never giving up and for Sierra’s constant willingness to give Nicki everything she can when they are in the ring.

More congratulations go out to one of our loyal teams from the Upper Penninsula of Michigan who have also been “usual suspects” at most of our trials over the past several years – Vicki Sowa and her papillon Comet who hit the 1,000 Lifetime Points mark at this weekend’s trial! Vicki and Comet have also been through many challenges over the years and have recently become one of those smooth and efficient teams that everyone in the crating area stops to watch whenever they enter the ring. We’re so pleased to have been a big part of your agility journey Vicki and thank you for making our trials so much richer for having you here!

Without a doubt, this was one of the hottest and most humid weekends in club history. Even with a rain delay for a portion of Friday Afternoon, though, the weekend proceeded as smoothly and efficiently as possible because of the wonderful spirit of the participants, great volunteer crew who kept it all moving along, and our super-judge … Jean Wilkins who set a positive and helpful tone for us all.

The Bone Cake celebrating Nicki and Sierra comes from K9 Kitchen (https://K9.kitchen), it’s a great big dog treat which was distributed among participating dogs on site. Even the participating dogs got to party a little!
