September, 2020 Trial Wrapup

One of the most successful weekends in the history of K9 Corps Agility is now in the books and the 2020 COVID-shortened season has been wrapped up.

This past weekend we hosted 40 dogs from seven states in one of our very few trials ever to have more dogs running at the Elite level than all the other levels combined.  Seven of those Elite dogs are in the Hall of Fame and four dogs finished additional Championship level awards throughout the weekend!

Congratulations to the “High in Trial” teams:

Elite Vet: Piper with Chrissy Chapman (160 pts.)

Elite Standard: ‘Rita with Jeff Riedl (155 pts.)

Novice: Henry with Katie Kiel (110 pts.)

Intro: Tucker with Lexy Schaible (140 pts.)

Intro – Junior Handler: Pepper with Haley MacDonald (95 pts.)

Each dog’s High in Trial division is determined by the level at which they ran Regular Agility for the weekend.  Points accumulated at any level in all classes count toward their H.I.T. points.

Congratulations also go out to our “Big Ribbon” teams this weekend:

Chrissy Chapman from Virginia with Piper:  Versatility NATCH 21, Colleen Flam from Tennessee with Jet: NATCH 12 and Versatility NATCH 12, our judge – Karen Hough, Jeff Riedl from Wisconsin with ‘Rita: All Around NATCH 5 & NATCH 6, and Marsha Orrick from Kansas with Zou Zou: NATCH 3 and Versatility NATCH 3!

Needless to say, with teams of this level of accomplishment there were quite a few tremendous runs to watch in the ring each day!

There were many, many impressive runs and personal victories for the local teams who are early in their Agility Journey, with a good deal of encouragement and mutual support on the grounds for these “teams on the rise”!  THAT is why we set out to host trials – to create a great environment at our events, and from that standpoint this weekend was absolutely a win for everyone here at K9 Corps Agility!
